A barcode on packaging is not just a graphic element. A file that looks clean in a mockup can still fail if the dimensions are wrong, the bars are distorted, or the quiet zones get trimmed too tightly.

Once the barcode type is settled, the file should match the printing method and the package surface. A flexible pouch, a small cosmetics carton, and a corrugated shipper do not place the same demands on a symbol. Common artwork mistakes that cause barcode failures

Most barcode failures are not dramatic. They come from ordinary design edits made by people trying to finish a package on deadline. A designer stretches the symbol to fit a panel. A printer reverses it out of a dark background without checking contrast. Someone crops too close and removes the quiet zone. Each change looks minor, but scanners read barcodes by precision, not by approximation.

An ITF-14 on corrugated packaging has different practical requirements than a UPC on a folding carton.
